Hiking Québec: Le Perdreau – Le Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier
A couple of weeks ago, we hiked Le Perdreau, an intermediate trail that does a 5 km loop. It took us about an hour and a half, and we really enjoyed it. We found it to be a good mix of ascents and descents, with plenty of stream crossings to keep things interesting. In the middle of the hike, the trail takes you past Lac Buvard, which is quite picturesque. It would be a nice place to stop, but there isn’t really anywhere to sit and the mosquitoes can be plentiful. We noticed that the forest had grown quite a lot since our first hike in mid-May. The trees were all a bright, new spring green and it was nearly impossible to see much for all the green undergrowth.
After the hike, we enjoyed our picnic lunch at the kilometer 18 parking area and trailhead. The view of the Jacques Cartier river is stunning. Still no moose sightings, but we did see a porcupine and some chipmunks.
